Throughout our entire research, and really in our every day lives, we have multiple opportunities of using and experimenting with multiple forms of technology. Think about all the different pieces of technology that we use, every day. Does technology contribute or take away from our learning? Have we enjoyed using technology throughout our research, and why do we enjoy (or not enjoy) using technology throughout our school day?

This week in ELA we have revisited the importance of citing our sources. For extra credit, provide a source in the comments and cite it in MLA format, properly
MODEL: The Outsiders Hinton, S. E. The Outsiders. New York: Viking, 1967. Print. Everyone should cite a different source. Think about all of the different types of sources we have visited. (Videos, websites, books, magazines etc.) -- Mr. Collins At the beginning of our Research Unit, we talked about enjoying the process of our research. In our process so far, we have done preliminary research, picked our topic and question, researched, are taking notes, creating a formal outline, and now are beginning to choose how our final projects will look like.
Every project and every presentation has a specific audience. Think about your topic and your project choice. Who is your audience? Why? So far, we have chosen our topic, research question, and now created our subtopics. One thing, as your teacher, that I have greatly enjoyed are the variety of topics that all of you have chosen. I don't think there is any one student's research that is like another's. In just 2-4 sentences, share with everyone your topic and question, and how your topic has had some sort of influence over other people.
Think about what it means to have a positive influence on the people around you. Identify one person in your community, school, or someone that you know that has a positive influence on you. What is it about that person or group that allows them to be influential? Do you think you are a positive influence for other people? Tell me in 3-5 sentences. Example: One person in my community that has a positive influence on me is my father. My father is a fifth grade teacher and teaches so that students are excited to learn! Also, he is a high school soccer coach and is a positive role model to young men through his coaching. As a teacher, I try to be the very best role model for my students by allowing them to explore the world around them through different texts and lenses. -- Mr. Collins |
