Happy searching...
We hear and read allusions everywhere, in music, videos, conversations, books, and movies. For this week's blog post, find an allusion and tell us about it. What is the allusion? Where did you find it? What does it mean??

I found an allusion while I was talking to my mom. The allusion was "On it like a cheetah". This means that I was going to get something really speedy because cheetahs are really fast.

My basketball team beating the #1 seed was a Cinderella Story! (I'm referring to how Cinderella wasn't expected to marry the Prince, but she did) My allusion means my team wasn't expected to win but we beat the odds.

Stephen, when someone compares two "things," it's called a metaphor. An allusion is a reference to a specific person or event, etc.

My coach told me that I was a cat when I was catching. He was saying that I was really quick and I had good reflexes. Him calling me a cat is a allusion.

The allusion I found is “I was surprised his nose was not growing like Pinocchio’s.” This refers to the story of Pinocchio, where his nose grew whenever he told a lie. I found this on a website called http://examples.yourdictionary.com/

If someone say "You're such a Darth Vader" they are saying you are bad or evil. I found that from Star Wars episodes III,IV,V,and VI.

After practice my coach said you were Garath Bale (A really fast soccer player) today. It is an allusion because coach ment I was very fast by referring to a real soccer player. I found this from a Match Magazine(It is a soccer magazine I read)

Two years ago, I won a sparring(fighting) match in karate. The girl I sparred against was a LOT taller than me. After I won, my coach said it was like, watching David & Goliath. (Reference,to the bible story of the little boy, David, winning a,fight against a giant.)

My dog runs like the Flash when he sees a squirrel. (since the Flash runs really fast, it means my dog runs very fast).

When I play the board game Minotaur with my sister Carolina, we call her Gandhi because she will not attack other players with the monster even though she will lose because of it. (The name of the game is also an allusion to the Greek monster!)

Yesterday I told my parents I was hot. They then responded "I'm thirsty. Hey, Kool-Aid!" That refers to an old Kool-Aid commercial, and that's the premise of the commercial.

In a Syracuse sports article by Bud Poliquin, he says "...where something borderline miraculous - nothing on the order of parting of the Red Sea, but close - nearly took place..." This is alluding to a biblical event.

I was flipping through channels on the TV and on one channel, one lady said to another, " chocolate is my Achilles heel. She meant that chocolate is her one weakness. The Greek character Achilles was invincible except for his one weakness, his Achilles heel.

I opened the door to the attic and I opened Pandora's box. This allusion explained that when I went into the attic, I opened the door to many evil and mysterious things.

Lemony Snicket is one of my favorite characters. Lemony is a fun character because he does not give up on his missions. Lemony Snicket is trying to get a costly item from Ellington. He is nice because he saved someone from drowning in a basement. Lemony Snicket risked the danger of himself to save someone else.

My favorite protagonist is Hugo from "Hugo". Hugo is brave but lonely, independent but loving. Hugo is an orphan that lives in the clock tower with his dead fathers creation searching for the key. Thats so cool! Hugo creates a mystery for himself, in the real world we don't get mysteries like that. We get who did this and who did that.

My favorite character is the main character in 'taken 3.' He is my favorite character because he knows everything that is going to happen and he is a step ahead of everyone. Also he doesn't trust anyone else than himself.
