Stereotypes are widely held but oversimplified images or ideas about a specific type of person. These beliefs are usually based on what someone looks like or the group he or she belongs to. Commonly held stereotypes about women or men, specific religions or ethnic backgrounds, or other generalizations often form our first impression of someone.

There are many stereotypes to people like me. I am asian (chinese) and everyone may think that parents are very strict and they think we are always super smart, and they expect the best out of us. However, they are wrong. We go through the same things as everyone else and we try our hardest to get good grades, it doesn't just come naturally. Parents can be strict but not all of them. My parents care about my grades but are loving and caring at the same time. I am also a girl. People think we aren't as strong as boys, and not as good at sports. But anyone who tries their best in a physical activity can always achieve there goals. Stereotypes around the world are not okay and they should be changed to positive ones.

Since I'm a girl people look at me differently in academic and physical ways. The saying " you throw like a girl" is offensive because girls through the same as boys or sometimes, even better! Also the other day on the bus a 6th grader said I can't be smart because I'm a girl. His words were " I don't see any GIRLS being smart like Einstein or being elected president" Therefore suggesting that he thought girls weren't as smart as guys. There are many smart women and girls in the world and we shouldn't be stereotyped by gender.

I agree completely- It's the same with me. The guy on the bus who said that is sexist and I already don't like him (whoever he is). People should know there have been countless female geniuses throughout history, just like there have been countless male geniuses!! (PS, I am not a feminist who thinks girls are better than boys I just got really mad at that 6th grade dude)

there are very many stereotypes in the world like for example how in class we where named off a couple of them: blondes are dumb, the pretty one are never smart, just because your from the hood means a whole bunch of thing are bad in your life i really think stereotypes can hurt people feeling it just it judging someone before you get to know them. think before you say things about other people. you never know someone can be labeling you.

There are many stereotypes in the the world, we learned some in class like jock and blonde. Like in the Movie "Lemonade Mouth" and Radio Rebel. by Disney™, there were lots of stereotypes, like jock, Wimpy, outcast, nerd, geek, and popular. Those are all mean things to say and judge about people. But those are also the mean stereotypes people call other people these days. You shouldn't call or judge people with mean stereotypes.🚫

I also wanna add that when I watch shows on Disney Channel or movies where the characters are separated into those different groups with no overlap I just get really ticked off, because it's like you can't be a nerd and athletic at the same time or something like that >:( It's all Disney's fault XD

I am always asked about my dad. He is from England and people always ask me if he is. People don't say it specifically to my dad but people are always assuming British people always drink tea and biscuits, are posh, and have a really strong accent. That is not always the case because i have relatives in England and they're all not like that.

There are many styreotypes agianst people like me and my family. I am muslim and a lot of people styreotyple that muslims are dangerous and we are not reespected. Some say that muslims are uneducated and mean, but thats not the case. My sister wears the hijab (scarf) on her head and even when we are just hanging out I notice a lot of people staring at her wierd. Although evryone in JDMS respects different cultures, not everyone does

A stereotype that I get as a boy that is athletic and plays a lot of sports is that I am just good at sports and not school. For example when my sisters are stuck on their homework they ask my other sisters when I am right there. When I ask them why can't I help you they say "because I don't trust that your smart enough to get the answer right." However in school I do pretty well and get good grades.

I think that sometimes stereotypes are true. for example many Jews have big noses or African American people have a big temper. but not all people are like that. my best friend is African American and he is maybe the nicest person I ever met. the reason people are bad or nice is how they grow up or how people around them act.

Annabelle Chase struggles to fight the stereotype that blondes are dumb. Beginning a daughter of the goddess of wisdom and being a blonde girl is the main reason why she struggles. She proves her self by getting and completing her own quest And being the leader of her cabin and siblings.

There are a lot of stereotypes about African American people they thing that all African Americans are poor and dumb but that's not true not all African Americans are poor or dumb people just make them look dumb because they were slaves I don't want to get too deep into it because I don't want to sound racist. Another stereotype is people may think that all black people are from the hood. for me like when we're talking about slavery and I'm the only black person in the class they just look at me and I'm like in my head "aww why are they looking at me" and it's just awkward for me. Another stereotype is popularity people think all popular kids are rich and pretty and have the perfect life but I don't believe in popularity and I don't think that all popular kids have a perfect life because a lot of people go through a lot of different things and that's why I don't believe in it. And that's some of the stereotypes I see in the world.

People think I am fun, nice, loving, weird, crazy and annoying. Some think I'm nerdy and love to follow the rules. The truth is, they're all right in their own way. Sometimes i'm nice and want to make my friends laugh or feel better. Other times i just want to be lost in a book and read all day. At home, I often ask my brother and sister for help and don't take no for an anwser. A lot of times i like to be weird and abserd. I find it annoying when someone disturbs me when i'm doing my work, but as long as it is for help and not to start a conversation, I don't mind. So I guess all of these stereotypes suit me, as long as someone doesn't say I'm a selfish brat.

One stereotype that is common but not used against my is that nerds aren't athletic. This isn't necessarily true, just because your smart doesn't mean you a slow or are bad a sports, like me. They may not be the best a sports but that doesn't mean they're bad at them. But this is not true the other way around either, athletic people can also be smart.

There are a lot of not so true stereotypes out there. For example, in the book "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton the two big social groups are the socs and the greasers. Both of these groups stereotype the other group in many ways. The greasers think the socs just have it easy and that they are mean and bad where as the socs think the greasers are greasy and deserve to be beaten up. Neither one of these assumptions fit the people. These are bad things to think and both are wrong.

People around our age believe in many different things. For example we think boys are stronger than girls. We probably think that because if a girl was actually stronger than you, you would probably be embarrassed. Also maybe we think that we do more actively? That is a stereotype that boys my age follow.

There are many different types of stereotypes. One of them is that girls aren't good enough to play on the boys sports teams when they are just as good or even better. Another stereotype is that boys are stronger than girls but that is not entirely true, sometimes. Some girls might be stronger than some guys but, the one thing that I don't like is when someone comes up to your after your sports game and says, you played good, for a girl. That is offensive to the girl and can be hurtful to her. Be kind to everyone for we are all made equally.

Like if u think of it there just going to build more stuff that is more money and more money. Like not all people are going to play football some people sometimes are just going to play football to be cool who wants to do that when football to have fun not to be cool i'm going to play basketball for fun not to play football and become a cool guy i do it for fun there. When I was about 8 years old, I thought that I was very responsible. So when my parents and brother went away for a while, I wanted to stay home alone. My parents HATED that idea. They said that I could burn the house down or something. That made me a little mad and I was then forced to stay home. This is a stereo type about parents thinking that young children are not responsible. Isabelle in the book, Perfect, stereotypes the most popular girl in her school, Ashley as being perfect. Isabelle thinks this because Ashley is a beautiful person and Isabelle thinks that because of it she must have a perfect life also. But, this stereotype is not true. Ashley's life isn't close to perfect. Her parents are never home, she has the same eating disorder Isabelle does, her parents are getting divorced and she even cheats in school to get her good grades and just seems to be smart. Ashley does not fit in this stereotype although Isabelle thinks so because she has her problems too, just like Isabelle and is not perfect like Isabelle thinks she is. Sometimes people stereotype against black and latino people. Sometimes people think, "Hey these guys are thugs or gangsters." Sometimes schools stereotype kids too, like assuming brown kids aren't as smart or that they are trouble. People don't always take time to know the individual. Sometimes some cops will stereotype and shoot a black man or stop them on the street just because the color of their skin even though he was probably doing nothing dangerous or violent. In NYC there was an actual policy called "Stop and Frisk" where cops could stop and search any kid simply based on his skin. People stereotype just because of skin or race when there is nothing to stereotype about. My mom is white and my dad is latino. I identify with both parents, but some of my friends insist I am not latino because of my skin. But the color of skin is not the only way we decide our heritage.
