Please respond to the week's topic by Monday. Happy blogging!
As we reflect this week on our reading experiences in 7th grade, what book titles (or article titles, for that matter) stand out to us? What inspired you? What would you recommend to others? Choose at least one title (include the author) and something about the book that you enjoyed. Maybe it's the genre you love? Maybe it's a new genre? What about a great quote? The author's style? What is it that drew you in and kept you reading? Positive comments on posts are always welcome and encouraged. ![]() The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics - Daniel James Brown

A great book that I read this year was An Abundance of Catherine's by John Green. I liked this book because it was very funny and adventourus. Also, the main character in this book was very funny and you got o like him very quickly. The author also has a great voice. If you are reading a book and you didn't know it was by John Green, you would be able to tell.

An excellent book that I read this year was Spiderman Renew Your Vows. This book inspired me because it was about taking care of your family no matter what the cost is. It was really cool because Spiderman was actually killing people to protect his family. Also this book is my favorite genre, graphic novels.

Some awesome books that I've read this year are The Compound, The Fallout, The Gardener, and Lockdown. All these books are Sci-Fi which has become one of my favorite genres. All of these books also have very brave main characters that go out of their ways to save their friends and families. An excellent book series I read this year was Witch and Wizard by Cate Tiernan and James Patterson. I liked this book series because of how each book at the start felt like a different series but still kept everything tied to a string for the main plot.

A great book I read this year was Legend by Marie Lu. This book was about these teenagers named Day and June and what they went through to keep Day's family safe. But, Day was the most wanted man in the Republic, so that didn't help. This action pact book kept me reading non stop. I recommend this book to anybody who likes adventure, action, and a little bit of romance.

One of my favorite books that I read this year would have to be The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. I thought that it was really cool because it was in the perspective of a gorilla. It was cool to see what he thought of and how his train f thought worked and what he did all day when he was bored. It showed how they talk though the sounds that they make instead of them really talking to each other like the book was fantasy, but I think the book was realistic fiction. I loved the way the other wrote with just enough detail to understand it.

One book that stood out to me was Godless. It stood out to me because it talked about religion. Something that stood out to me to read this was when Mrs. Simons read the summary on the back of the book. I would recommend this to others if they like mysterios books. Something I liked about the book was how crazy Henry Stagg was. A good quote from the book is "you can't believe in something unless you have faith". Something that kept me reading was when they jumped into the water tower

I've read books that were decent, then again I've read books that stood out to me. Probably one that stood out to me was Running for my life by Lopez Lomong. The book is really good. It's about one of the " lost boys of Sudan." He was taken from his parents as a child and was forced into a soldier training camp with other boys. It was brutal what they went through. But Lopez, along with his friends from his tribe escaped and they went to a refugee camp. Lopepe goes on to have many successes and has many good surprises. Definitely something you could read.

I have had many favorite books that I have read this year, but one book that I really enjoyed was Breathless by Lurlene McDaniel. This book pulled me in with a new genre, being suspense and thrilling. It is about a boy named Travis who suffers from deathly cancer, but continues to fight again and again, until he makes a challenging decision that changes his life. A favorite quote I love from this book is when Travis says, "None of us truly knows what we'll do when the circumstances become so overwhelming and complex that we can't even tell right from wrong."

One book I read this year was Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein. I would recommend this to other seventh grade students because it is funny and makes you want to keep reading. It was a new genre that I read this year. The genre was mystery. Grabenstein makes you want to find out the way out of the library with funny scenes and a great plot. When I got this book it kept me reading and I finished it in a day. The reason I got the book because I actually got to meet Grabenstein at “The Teen Book Fest 2016” and he said “When writing a mystery, first you need to know how it will end so you can leave clues along the way to help the reader.”

A great book that I read this year was Legend by Marie Lu. It is fiction and is very suspenseful. It would shock you with the craziest twist and you wouldn't see it coming. It has a little bit of everything for everyone; action, suspense, sadness and even a little bit of romance. This book is in a trilogy and is the first book.
